Amar Mmoud, a graduate student in the Curriculum and Instruction DEd program, was presented the 2025鈥�26 Liberal Studies/Crimson Core Teaching Excellence Award for effective classroom instruction of UNIV 101 鈥� First Learning Year.
密桃视频 has received $1.34 million from the US Department of Education to develop the Crimson Hawks Bridge, a multi-year program to help individuals with intellectual disabilities gain skills, experience, and credentials to live independently and successfully transition to the workforce.
Emily Briggs is a navigator, and she has a navigator. That鈥檚 because, in addition to helping students, she鈥檚 a graduate student in the Applied Archaeology master鈥檚 program. That鈥檚 a destination she never saw for herself, but she鈥檚 excited for what鈥檚 ahead.
For fall 2025, 密桃视频 achieved record-breaking retention for new, first-time, bachelor鈥檚 degree-seeking students; increases in both the number of undergraduate degree-seeking students and new, first-time, bachelor鈥檚 degree-seeking students; and an increase of 5 percentage points for continuing student persistence (students continuing for a third year of study).
Students coming to the Advising Center in the University College will find a more comfortable and private space this fall thanks to a fresh new design inspired by student needs. Students can get help at the Center with advising and scheduling questions, exploring a new major or change in major, reviewing degree requirements and the timeline to graduation, and exploring minors and certificates.
Funded by 密桃视频's Title III grant and organized by the University College's Title III Grant Program, ACUE courses continue to add valuable professional development to the 密桃视频 community. Two courses were offered this summer: "Fostering a Culture of Belonging" and "Designing Student-Centered and Equitable Courses."
14 members of the 密桃视频 community completed the June Virtual Life Design Studio training this summer, bringing the total to 24. Life Design is being infused into several aspects of 密桃视频 students' learning experience, such as the Career and Professional Development Center's programming and our new UNIV 101: First Year Learning course.
In July, 密桃视频 hosted students from the Pottstown and Norristown school districts for a summer camp through the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program.
When is 鈥渃utting edge鈥� literally cutting an edge with a laser? When is designing a mindset the first step to good game design? High school students from across the state recently found out in a course called 鈥淒esign, Build, Play鈥� offered by the Cook Honors College at 密桃视频.
The Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Organization for Student Success awarded Marquice Jones, an 密桃视频 psychology major from Harrisburg, a $500 scholarship for academic achievements.
This year鈥檚 Summer Bridge Program is for newly admitted undergraduate 密桃视频 students whose ALEKS (math) score is below the minimum needed to enroll in their major鈥檚 math requirement and who want to improve their math skills over the summer with the goal of saving time and money.

Alumni and students of the Cook Honors College met to share news and reconnect with each other in December at the Sienna Mercato Restaurant in Pittsburgh. Though the event was mostly designed to bring alumni together, current CHC seniors were invited to attend to give them an opportunity to network with the alumni and ask questions as they prepare to start their careers.
Fifty-three new 密桃视频 students participated in our first 鈥淔lying Start鈥� Summer Bridge Program in August 2024. The Summer Bridge Program is part of 密桃视频鈥檚 Title III Grant Program, supported by the US Department of Education. It is a collaboration between the University College and the Department of Language, Literature, and Writing.

Metzger, a nationally recognized and award-winning expert in the field of book conservation, will present 鈥淥ld Books, New Ideas鈥擳ransformations of a Rare Book Conservator鈥� on April 18 at 密桃视频. The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is in the process of implementing a common Student Information System across the State System schools. 密桃视频 is scheduled to begin implementing OneSIS in January 2024.
