Science Discovery and Outdoor Learning Center

The college supports a variety of centers that provide service to the community and offer supervised training venues for our students. Our faculty members are teacher-scholars who are dedicated to excellence in the classroom and continued research in their fields of study.

Center for Career and Technical Personnel Preparation
The Center for Career and Technical Personnel Preparation offers professional certificate and degree programs that prepare career and technical teachers and administrators to receive required state certifications. All programs offered by the center include both field-based and classroom-based instruction.

Labyrinth Center
The Labyrinth Center provides a comprehensive and holistic approach to support ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ students with Autism Spectrum Diagnosis as they build relationships, gain independence, experience academic success, and graduate from ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ with the professional and personal skills needed to embark on a fulfilling life and career.

Child Study Center
The Child Study Center is a psycho-educational clinic that provides comprehensive educational and psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults. The Center offers educational support for parents for addressing children’s academic difficulties and behavioral concerns with services to enhance children’s learning and behavioral outcomes. Consultation services for schools, external agencies, and other professionals involved in the care and education of children are also available. 

Center for Creativity and Change
This center seeks to advance the knowledge base of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as mental health professionals, through the promotion and creation of professional trainings. The Center is staffed by faculty members from the Department of Counseling and Human Development. 

Administration and Leadership Studies Research and Training Center (ALS-RTC)
This center is an applied interdisciplinary center that supports sponsored research, program evaluation, policy analysis, technology, transfer, and training. The center provides expertise in the fields of research, program evaluation, training, and administration and leadership, as well as providing services and training to businesses and Commonwealth government agencies. For ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ students, staff, and faculty, the center offers research support services. 

Mid-Atlantic Research and Training Institute for Community and Behavioral Health (MARTI)
MARTI is a powerhouse organized around a consortium of academic and professional experts in the field of alcohol abuse treatment, domestic violence intervention, and related mental health issues. Since 2012, the institute has expanded its focus to alcohol and drug research, veterans’ reintegration, family and mental health issues, training conferences for health professionals and educators, and community outreach.

Literacy Center
The Bill and Judy Scheeren Literacy Center provides assessment and instruction for children and adolescents needing assistance with reading and writing. Graduate students pursuing reading specialist certification provide instruction to children in the community under the supervision of faculty members.
