Data collection and analysis is one of the core components of the PCWA project. This page is designed to share data-driven insights on workforce needs, skills gaps, and other lessons learned. As the project progresses, new insights and updates will be added to reflect evolving industry needs and partner feedback, helping to guide program activities and strengthen the regional cybersecurity workforce pipeline.

PCWA Industry Partner Survey

Industry partners were asked to complete a survey that collected important data on workforce needs, hiring practices, and other key trends within the cybersecurity field. Survey responses were collected between December 2025 and March 2026. While this initial dataset reflects a small sample, it provides valuable early insights that are already helping to shape project activities. The survey will be distributed again in the future to expand participation and continue refining strategies that support project objectives.

Key Insights

  • Hiring demand exists at all levels, but time to fill increases with seniority.
  • Communication and critical thinking are both highly valued and frequently missing.
  • Employers prioritize hands-on experience over certifications and formal education when making hiring decisions.
  • AI is influencing processes, but has not reduced overall hiring demand.

Identified Opportunities

  • Academic partners should increase hands-on and real-world learning opportunities and incorporate practice of communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Employers need increased knowledge of NICE Framework and training to improve utilization of the Framework in hiring practices.
  • Students should highlight experience on resumes and do extensive prep and research prior to interviews.
