Thomas Oraskovich, a sociology and political science pre-law major from McIntyre, is making waves at ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ. As a student in the Cook Honors College, he recognizes the value of a degree from a university in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education and hopes to have a career as a sociology professor.
Oraskovich is grateful to ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ for fostering a great environment for advocates in the areas of equality. He recently created an LGBTQIA+ video that was shared with all ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ students as part of his role in ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ's Student Government Association. Through the project, he was able to utilize the skills he gained in his sociology courses at ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to create this video and promote equality at ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ,” Oraskovich said. “Through my sociology courses, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the issues facing the LGBTQIA+ community, and I was able to use that knowledge to create something that I hope will make a difference.”
Oraskovich's video was well-received by the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ community and served as a reminder of the university's commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. He is determined to continue making a positive impact on the university and the community.
“I am proud to be a part of the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ community, and I hope that my video will inspire others to take action and promote equality,” Oraskovich said. “I want elected officials to know that I am grateful for ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ and the opportunities it has given me to make a difference.”
Thomas Oraskovich is a shining example of the kind of students at ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ. He is well-prepared to take on the challenges facing our society today, and with his passion for equality and his commitment to making a positive difference, there is no doubt that he will achieve great things in the future.
