Daniel Shively, a librarian at ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ, has donated a deed dated 1808 to the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Libraries Special Collections and University Archives.
The deed was issued to his great-great-great-grandfather Daniel Shively and is signed by President Thomas Jefferson and future President James Madison. Madison signed the deed as secretary of state. The property was located near Cincinnati.
Shively has been a faculty member in the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Libraries since 1963.
The deed is a welcome addition to the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Special Collections and University Archives, said Dr. Phillip Zorich, interim dean of the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Libraries. The ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Special Collections and University Archives Department hosts and organizes items related to the history of ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ, Pennsylvania, and rare books.
