Indiana Musicale (Indiana Chapter, Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association), in collaboration with the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Department of Music, hosted its seventh Monster Piano Concert in DiCicco Hall (Cogswell Room 121) on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Coordinated by ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ piano faculty members Henry Wong Doe, Evan Engelstad, and ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ alumna/Community Music School faculty member Holly Lightner, the event included 35 pre-college piano students and four private teachers from Indiana, Armstrong, Cambria, Westmoreland, and Allegheny counties.
Established in 2014, the Monster Piano Concert is a large piano ensemble event, and this seventh edition featured 22 grand and upright pianos in DiCicco Hall. It continues to be Indiana Musicale’s most popular event, bringing talented young pianists to the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ campus for a morning rehearsal and breakout coaching sessions. The ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Piano Ensemble (ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ piano majors) was also featured in the program and assisted during the coaching sessions.
